We currently have three high pressure systems to measure the dynamic elastic properties of rocks at subsurface conditions.
- Mikey1 and PSS: are two transducer systems (one P-wave and two orthogonal S-waves) for confining pressures up to 10,000 psi (68 MPa) and 9,000 psi (62 MPa) fluid pressure. The ISCO 65DM pump controls the fluid pressures. Independent pressure and fluid controls.
- LAVA: LAser Vessel for Acoustics is a unique system where we perform non-contacting laser ultrasonics (source and receiver) measurements under confining (~20MPa) and fluid pressure.
- Reactor vessels: Two reactor vessels for CO2-rock interactions.
- Epson Perfection V370 scanner: high resolution (4800 x 9600 dpi optical resolution) image scanning for petrography.
